September is always a busy time across the college. Teachers frantically running from one lesson to the next, new students looking worried as they try and find their classrooms and support staff trying to help the students with all their weird and wonderful enquiries. What a year!
On results day I had the unfortunate realisation that something had to change in my second year of A levels if I was to have even the slightest chance of achieving my aspirational grades this year. Thus, I have the joy of retaking both of my non-linear subjects, it could be worse I suppose. My philosophy grade is what hit me hard because I ended up a whole two grades lower than what I was expecting and two grades lower than I’d been marked at throughout the duration of my first year. In short, I was not best pleased. Continue reading “From First Year to Second”
Hi, I’m Jamie and I am the European Projects Officer for Halesowen College. I’ve worked at the College for over 10 years and started in the Library. I’m still there but my role has developed and now I divide my time between European projects, Equality and Diversity projects and the Library. Continue reading “000111”
Nobody ever said to me that teaching was going to be an easy job. In fact, during my training two years ago over half of my peers decided to jump ship and swim to safety in what I can only assume was clear water towards another career. I was dreading college the week before the summer break ended partly because I was nervous about being surrounded by new people but also because I’m not a morning person! I was worried that people wouldn’t want to talk to me but I was very wrong. Continue reading “My First Half Term”
Hello there! I’m Ellen and I study three A Levels at Halesowen College those being Creative Writing, Philosophy and Sociology. I wish I could say that I chose these subjects because they would put me on a certain career path however this slightly unusual selection was chosen with little consideration of the future. I honestly don’t really have any plans for the future in relation to jobs. I chose these subjects because they were appealing and I knew that I would enjoy them. Continue reading “079257”
Hi, I’m Danni and I’m studying A Levels at Halesowen College. I decided to take English Literature, Creative Writing and Psychology mainly because I have a passion for studying English and writing. I also just find Psychology fascinating. I’m not sure what I want to do as a career but I do want to go to university. So I thought it was best to study courses I’d enjoy. I really like college, I definitely prefer it to high school anyway. Continue reading “078931”
